Description: Vintage Lovely Quality Mahogany Cased Mantle Clock with a silvered dial and bronze turned finial to the crown finished with glazed side walls and front door, Dial features the retailers namesake for Pidduck & Sons Of Hanley along with a simple black enamel Arabic dial with blued steel hands along with 'Chime' and 'Silent' setting above.The Clock features a key wound movement with Westminster chimes as a series of four brass hammers on copper tubes, striking on the hour, movement palette is impressed with the makers mark for Gustav Becker of Eastern Prussia (now Poland as of c1947) the front wall below the clock dial is mounted with a brass plaque which is engraved with a legend indicating the clock to have been gifted to an Arthur George Cooper in the year circa 1941 in appreciation of 50 years of Service from circa 1891, so definitely an old boy then whom had already seen the great War and was now in another.The Clock movement is in working order but there is no pendulum or winding key so one will need to be sourced to complete.the clock stands 25 cm tall with a width and depth of 15.5 cm and 13.3 cm respectively.Makes for an interesting collectible mantle clock dating to the late 1930's, one that will restore well with a little attention. weight : 2244 grams
