Description: This 500 Maldivian rufiyaa banknote is part of the Randhihafaheh family of banknotes issued by the Maldives Monetary Authority. Though this note was one of those unveiled in 2015, it was first circulated in January 2016. Like other notes in the family, this note has an embossed symbol at the upper left corner of the front side to assist the visually impaired, and is printed on Safeguard polymer substrate. The orange note is 150 mm long and 70 mm wide. Its obverse side depicts an artisan carving wood using the mallet and chisel method, a woman making ekels traditionally used for brooms, and a flower Spark ORBITAL patch. Its reverse side features a traditional hand-carved vase with lacquer work detailing. Though the note does not have a security thread, it has a watermark of the coat of arms of Maldives.
