A. H. and dated, probably, 1854. This sketch is drawn on an embossed, hand-made paper, drawn into an intaglio border surround. We have not inspected the work outside its frame. The sketch is attributed on a label verso, by another hand, to the British artist, M. A. H. Wilson but we have not independently verified this. It is a fine study, showing much attention to detail, great depth and perspective. In our opinion, on subject and presence of detail this work is more aligned to the British artist David Cox Snr (1783 – 1859) or his son, David Cox Jnr (1809 – 1885). Presented in very good condition in its original or close-to-original, frame, this sketch/study will look fabulous displayed.
