Saw is a very reliable starter and cuts with 6 cubes of retro mac oomph. Came from a deceased McCulloch collector's saw hoard and was clearly well cared for over its 60 years of life. Saw internals are clean and apart from one broken lower handle frame tab (see pics), I see no other serious structural damage and handle is secure by other tab and dog. Otherwise saw shows usual paint wear, chain rash, bumps, dings, and scrapes consistent with its half century plus age and occupation. Saw appears to have been repainted very early on in its career as the wear is to both layers. Likely it was the colors of the logging outfit that originally owned the saw. Has the largest H&S Hadston custom bucking spikes that were ever made for the geardrive models. These rare spikes had the double kickstand dogs for setting straight crosscuts and faces in 6ft+ old growth logs when the saw, bar, and chain could weigh 40+ pounds. Saw was updated with the very rare .404 sprocket probably in the 1970s when that chain pitch became standard in the woods. Sprocket is in great shape with many hours of cutting life left. 1-85 marked air filter cover is surely a replacement part. Gearbox is the 2:1 version. After the model 895c and 895, this is the largest engine that McCulloch put into a geardrive chainsaw chassis. Saw HAS NOT been washed, only dusted with compressed air. See cutting video for running demonstration. Was cutting with a 42" bar pulling .404" full complement chipper chain in dead dry 36" fir wood. Rare collector's geardrive muscle saw with two very unusual accessories.
