Description: Circa: 1920 - 1930's Size: 6.6’ by 4.4’ SOUTHEASTERN TURKEY - SHIRT Kurdish angora minimalist KILIM / blanket. Southeastern Turkey is the second major place where the angora goats are raised for many centuries. Various natural colors of angora wool after combing and spinning are used in such flat weaving. They mostly were used for winter days as blankets and shawls. After they are woven as a plain double yarn weave - warps and wefts alternate each other to create a surface by beating combs. Later, one side is combed with pointed metal tools to pull some fibers to create pile and even some directional motifs. Here, they are combed one direction. This one is woven in minimalist style in stripes. All colors are natural in this item, undyed angora wool. There are several small spot wears but it is not even 5 %, long fibers cover these areas. Some of the end tassels are short.
