Thick small 8vo, (various paginations), brown sheep and spattered boards, raised bands, lettered in blind at one compartment, covers VG with minor wear, all volumes protected in old paste paper wraps with old ink accounts on obverse, white paper labels on wraps, 3 volumes with trears to paste paper wraps, all edges red, name on free endpapers 'Jonston Livingston / Zallender House', (This was Johnston Livingston b. 1817 of Dutchess County, NY d. 1911 son of John Swift Livingston 1785?1867 whose Livingston Line goes back to Robert Livingston 1st Lord of the Manor of Livingston m. 1697 Alita Schuyler van Rensselear d. 1728), (Note there was a Johnston Livingston of Wisconsin circa 1800s but signature on his portrait differs from those in the books), titles in red and black, engraved frontis in Volume I by Houbraken, texts good with light browning and foxing, frontis at bottom margin corner repaired, very nice well preserved set of Montaigne.
