Description: I recently purchased about 800 shoe lasts that came from a building about to be torn down. These are from Portsmouth, Ohio, which in the early 1900's was known as the shoe manufacturing capital of the world, producing about 7 million pairs of shoes a year. As the factories starting closing down, the remaining shops would buy out the shoe lasts from the other companies until they all ended up at the last working factory. These are all clean, with a lot of them having notes written on them to help the shoe makers. I will be selling the ones with factory names marked on them separately and will combine shipping. This listing is for the bulk of them that are unmarked. I will try to mix and match styles and sizes. The ones in the last pictures I have cleaned with furniture polish and Murphy's Oil to show you how they looked cleaned up, and there are some pictures on some idea. I painted one blue and I built a couple of hat/coat racks with 4 shoes. The ones I send out will be out of the boxes seen in the first 3 photos. They have been washed off with a hose and are still raw wood grain that can be painted, stained or decorated. Buying these in bulk gives crafters a great chance to make some money on these. The ideas are endless for these. Please contact me if you are looking for anything special. There is one odd caveat about these shoes. Almost everyone of them are right shoes. Owner said they were seperated right and left shoes. If I can get my hands on some of the left shoes, I will mix them in. These weight about 1.5 pounds each. So 4 shoes will ship at 6 pounds. I will combine up to 5 lots and ship them at 30 pounds. This is the best way to cut down on your cost per shoe last. Check out my other listings for the shoes with company names on them, and some of the oddball and unusual last.
