For sale in this listing is a Block Signal Controller, designed to provide the user with a 2-block or 3-block signal range. In my first run of these items, I was using a series of relays and there was no separation between directions of traffic. With this controller, you may now signal one or the other directions of travel, or both directions simultaneously if you choose. Depending on what you use to control the block traffic coming in, you may want to use a block occupancy detector, or you can integrate one with the input from a dispatcher control panel. You may also wish to use an Arduino or some other microcontroller to control the traffic on your layout. All this device does is use the status of adjacent blocks to change the aspect of your signals and give you more than stop and go, red and green. An additional feature included with the premium signal controller is the ability to be approach-lit only. When a train is not occupying the adjacent block, the signal will go dark, saving precious battery power. This is how most prototypical signaling works in areas where the signal shanties have no commercial power access and rely on solar power to keep the batteries topped off. This device also comes with a pamphlet of instructions to guide you in the wiring process. This controller card is intended to be powered with a DC Accessory power supply, providing between 9 and 14v DC. It's also intended to work with other cards just like it in a daisy-chain method. Output from these controllers are the same voltage put into them. Consult the manual for operation with low voltage signals.
