Description: An original vintage photograph negative likely taken in 1920s - 1940s of a stage, platform or parade float with banners or signs for the Modern Woodmen of America. Another banner says "My Husband Was a Woodman" and :Mine was Not". I guess to show the benefits of belonging. Neat wooden platform, house, flags, antique furniture and kids and a man. 3.5x2.25" negative Wingstar is not on the negatives. Happy to answer any questions and combine shipping. Please see my other vintage historical photographs. online info - Modern Woodmen of America (MWA) is an American fraternal benefit society in the United States, which sells various investments and insurance products, with membership over 750,000 as of 2017...Originally, Modern Woodmen had a unique set of membership restrictions and criteria. Religiously, the group was quite open, accepting "Jew and Gentile, the Catholic and Protestant, the agnostic and the atheist." However, until the mid-1900s, membership was restricted to white males between the ages of 18 and 45 from the 12 "healthiest" states – Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri, the Dakotas, Nebraska and Kansas. Residents of large cities were also disqualified from membership, as were those employed in certain professions, such as railway workers, underground miners, gunpowder factory employees, liquor wholesalers and manufacturers, saloon keepers, "aeronauts", sailors on the lakes and seas, and professional baseball players.
