Description: Lovely and unique vintage, hand-painted Japanese moriage porcelain two-armed table lamp with a vase form, or perhaps made from a vase. This hexagonal piece has a repaired arm and is priced accordingly -- please see photos from all sides. The lamp works, has a flexible "newer vintage" cord, and does not come with a bulb or shade. An apparent lower smudge may be the remains of an artist chop or other mark, but the bottom has no marks ("Japan" stamps were only required on items exported to the U.S. for sale, so this one arrived with its owner). Raised white and gold "moriage" style lines decorate the flowers and top designs. The front design is a balance of geometry and nature -- a pale yellow with cream background sets off darker yellow graduated stripes edged in green and flowers in purple, pinks, white, yellow and magenta, with deep green grass blades behind The simpler design in back features magenta flowers against a smoky haze. This charming lamp has unstained crazing in areas throughout (sample enhanced), as well as small original pits, slip imperfections, and paint rubbings. The base measures 12.25" H x 7.5" W, and the lamp as shown is 16" H to top of socket.
