The pestle is squared and feels very interesting when you roll it across the top of the mortar. The sound it makes I can say the very same thing about. Definitely the most unique pieces for the normal shaping. There are pecking marks through out both tools on all their sides showing the evident work that went into creating these finished pieces of ancient history. I feel very proud to have found these two pieces and enjoyed the time spent studying them. These would be extraordinary pieces to add to ANY collection and definitely conversation pieces for many years to come if not forever. In my opinion I feel them to be museum worthy and have had others to say the same thing. Alot of my finds I can honestly say that my hands have been the only to touch since the people who crafted the stone into working tools. This set I have had a few other people to touch and feel observe them in search of other opinions. I found them both mid-ways down Duck Creek Road of Metamora Indiana that is within Franklin County Indiana in the Spring of 2021. The size of these stone works in combination with all the evident work went into creating them makes for a much higher than the usual pricing on most of my finds.
