Description: Neocaridina shrimp aka Dwarf freshwater shrimp are becoming some of the most popularly kept species in the aquarium hobby. They are popular largely due to their general ease of care compared to other dwarf shrimp species, the variety of amazing colors available and are generally more tolerant to a wider range of water parameters unlike their close cousins which I do not offer currently. Neocaridina shrimp originate mainly from Taiwan, where they live in lakes and ponds, which host a variety of live plants, wood and rocks. They can also be found in Southern China, and Vietnam. They can grow to a maximum size of 2 inches in length, but generally only grow to around 1.5 inches in length for females, and 1.25 inches for males. These wonderful little shrimp are insane cleaners and will keep the bottom of your tank spotless of leftover food and algae, grazing on biofilm and whatever they can get their hands on! Tank size: As they generally have a low bioload, a good rule of thumb is 2-5 shrimp per gallon. They can technically be kept in anything as small as a gallon, however I would not recommend anything less than a 2 gallon as smaller tanks are much harder to keep cycled and are more prone to fluctuations in water parameters, which shrimp can be sensitive to. Ideally, they should be kept in a tank that is at least 5 gallons but the larger the better! *Listing photos are sometimes just sample representations of said shrimp and not the actual shrimp you'll be purchasing, so manage your expectations. The shrimp can arrive smaller, larger, brighter, darker, etc. but please don't worry, I'll only ship the finest specimens available! ACCLIMATION: I ONLY recommend drip acclimating for the highest chance of success possible! Shrimp are sensitive creatures and large swings in water parameters and temperatures can be detrimental! Amazon sells a product called ACCUDRIP by Innovative Marine that I suggest you purchase BEFORE you welcome your shrimp home.
