Description: Noritake Round Bowl Hand Painted Made in Japan Floral Black Cream Gold 1918-1931 NORITAKE Exquisite Decorative 2 RETICULATED Handles ROUND 7 3/4" BOWL, Hand Painted FLORAL w/GOLD, from Noritake Company in Noritake, Japan, M-in-Wreath Mark Made in JAPAN circa 1918-1931 DESCRIPTION: The beautiful hand painted open decorative bowl was produced in a beautiful pattern of gold fern sprays hanging around black leaves that are outlined in gold. This is on a cream band that has gold squares on a black background. The gold squares have a cross in the center. The color palette is simple: black and yellow on cream & white w/gold. The design looks so classic. The outside and the interior of the bowl are white. The fancy reticulated handles are painted cream and trimmed in gold. CONDITION: While this decorative 2 handled bowl is classified as used, the condition is superb. There are no chips, nicks, cracks, rubbings, scratches or hairlines. There are no utensil marks or wear on the gold. DIMENSIONS: The bowl handle to handle is 7 3/4" with a height of 1 3/4". The diameter is 6 3/8". HISTORY/MARKS: Morimura Bros. formed the trading and decorating company in 1876 which evolved into Noritake. Noritake Company has a rich history of producing porcelain china all the way from January 1, 1904 when the Nippon Toki Kaisha Ltd - the forerunner to the present Noritake Company - was formed in the village of Noritake, a small suburb near Nagoya, Japan with its huge kaolin clay sources. The first reported U.S. registry for a Noritake backstamp for importing is 1911. The backstamp on this piece is the green mark #27.0 as cited in David Spain's Art Deco Noritake & More.
