Participant of the WW2. From 1946 to 1951 he studied at the Kiev Art Institute from E. Sagaidachny, A. Shovkunenko, I. Kudryavtsev, K. Trokhimenko and K. Elieva. Member of the Union of Artists of the USSR. The husband of the famous Ukrainian artist Vera Sogoyan. He was awarded the Order of the Badge of Honor, medals, the Diploma of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the Ukrainian SSR. In 1973, Chernikov, V.M. awarded the title – "Honored Artist of the USSR". Member of the CPSU. He worked in the field of easel painting, graphics and posters. The main works: “Donetsk miners” (1957); “Brigade of Hero of Socialist Labor M. Mamaia” (1960); “Portrait of the Miner Stakhanov AG” (1970), “Deep Horizon” (1963); “Friendship over Tisa” (1964 – 1965); “The Southern Frontier” (1968); “On Lenin’s watch” and others. In the 1950s he participated in the design of the Exhibition of Achievements of the National Economy in Kiev. He participated in exhibitions: republican since 1951, all-Union since 1957, foreign since 1959. The artist died in Kiev on March 17, 1992. The works of V.M.
