Description: Novel cross! Phal Mituo Speciosa Dragon x Phal Sogo Manta 'Formosa' Expect well formed flowers on compact plants with more blooms per stem than is typical for Mituo Speciosa Dragon. The color is anyone's guess but should be highly variable and interesting. Each tub contains at least 12 healthy seedlings from this cross ready to deflask (transplant). Seedling Parents: Female parent: Phal Mituo Speciosa Dragon (Mituo Reflex Dragon × Mituo Speciosa). An unnamed selection. This cross can give variable blues with or without tan/brown/chocolate. Flowers may also show barring as does this selection. As reported, I'm noting that the color saturation can change with temperature - sometimes having more blues or more of a brownish-blue tint. This selection was particularly beautiful this past summer out doors with much more intense, desirable and unique coloration but alas, no photos. It appears more 'diluted' when grown under LEDs during the winter (as photographed). Male parent: Phal Sogo Manta 'Formosa' which is a superior compact white Phal which also repeat blooms well. Sogo Manta has better shaped flowers with more flowers per stem. Blooms shown are from the exact parent plants. Plantlets shown are some of the tubs available from this cross taken within the last few days. Care upon receipt: Upon receipt, maintain the tubs out of direct sunlight until ready to deflask. The seedlings can stay in the tubs for another few months longer if you do not have the time to care for them right now. Deflasked seedlings require care and observation for best results. If you delay deflasking, watch for contamination which may occur during rough transport. Deflask upon any signs of contamination and they should be fine. Seedlings are best transplanted to covered clear containers filled with moist sphagnum moss. Maintain transplants covered under humid conditions out of direct sunlight until they are slowly acclimated to your conditions. Prior to transplanting, be certain to carefully remove all of the tissue culture media to prevent mold. This is easiest if the media plus seedlings are placed in a sink of barely warm water and the media (which is black due to the addition of charcoal) is gently removed with your fingers being careful not to damage the roots or the young plantlets. Transfer the clean plantlets to moist sphagnum moss and cover the roots with moss. Maintain covered for a few weeks and then slowly start to remove the cover over several weeks. Do not allow to dry out for prolonged periods. Follow guidelines available from the American Orchid Society (or other reputable source) for care of Phalaenopsis. Shipping: Insured Shipping via USPS. Shipping only within the contiguous United States, excluding Hawaii and Alaska. Note that there may be restrictions shipping live plant materials to Arizona, California, Florida and Texas although these plantlets are sterile and in tissue culture containers without soil. Please familiarize yourself with your local regulations and purchase accordingly. Shipping via USPS Priority Mail typically results in delivery within 2 to 3 days. I ship on Monday to avoid any potential weekend delays if USPS is experiencing difficulties. Orders received on Monday will ship the next Monday. Although shipping is insured for damage, loss or theft, damage to live plant materials due to weather extremes may not be covered. It's advisable to avoid shipping to areas experiencing excessively cold or hot weather. If you have any concerns, feel free to reach out to me. I can hold your order until shipping is more advisable.
