Description: This particular self portrait of Anthony van Dyke (Flemish, 1599-1641) is interesting as the original has never been found with only old copies in places like the Indianapolis Museum of Art and the Versailles Museum in France. This fabulous original oil on canvas self portrait painting after Van Dyke was found in an old Southern estate and was probably painted in France in the mid to late 1700s, it shows Van Dyke wearing a velvet coat and white shirt turning left towards the viewer, the painting with wonderful details all over particularly throughout the hair and face. The painting is framed in an old floral carved frame. The painting measures approximately 25 x 21 inches and the frame is about 29 x 24 inches. The painting is in great condition and displays well.
