Michael graduated from the Maine College of Art and Design with a BFA degree in 1980. After receiving his certification he became the first Art teacher for the Penobscot Tribal Nation through Maine Indian Education. After 36 years of being an artist/teacher, Michael retired from public school art education in 2022 to pursue a full time painting career. His paintings have won numerous awards, appearing in different competitions and juried shows in Maine and New England. He is a signature member of the New England Watercolor Society, and has received several artist residencies in Maine and New Hampshire. He offers Oil and watercolor workshops in the summer in Rangeley through the Rangeley Friends of the Arts. He is represented by Gleason Fine Art, Yarmouth Frame and Art Gallery and the Lupine Gallery on Monhegan, all located in Maine where he resides. This painting is a part of Michael's annual Holiday Sale auction.
