Description: Amazing watercolor sketch from Anthony Perkins' 1957 Fear Strikes Out film! This is an original large painting by an artist associated with the film to show the director and others what the planned building will look like. He'd either approve it or send it back for changes. Stamped Paramount Pictures Corp Art Department with more information on the back. Scarce to find these still surviving out in the wild almost 70 years later! I did watch the film and found this gas station about about 12 minutes in--Perkins' character worked at the station. The film shows the portion of the station shown in the painting on the right by the gas pumps where the cars run through, with a large two-sided lamp. You can also see the wood and brick structures in the film. The last three photos are actual clips from the station scene in the movie. The movie is a true story about MLBaseball player Jimmy Piersall, who suffered from mental illness, with violent episodes. Some scenes may have been a warm-up for his role in Psycho just 3 years later! The piece measures 18.5" x 10" on a larger, 18x26" board. Watercolor art portion is very good, but board has spotting and heavy corner wear as shown. Also a great Petroliana man-cave piece.
