Description: Let ‘Em Have It is a 1943 World War II American public service announcement for Bonds supporting the Fourth War Loan.Bernard Perlin's artwork places the viewer right in the thick of battle. The soldier's outstretched arm reaches across the composition as his hand clutches a live grenade perfectly placed at the text "Buy Extra Bonds." The Fourth War Loan Drive began on January 18 and ran until February 15, 1944. The initial goal was $14 billion. The final sales were $16.7 billion ($227.2 billion today accounting for inflation), with nearly 70 million separate bonds sold. Bernard Perlin (1918-2014) is best known for his World War II posters as well as his long career as a fine artist working in the Magic Realism style. Perlin attended the New York School of Design and later the Arts Students League.
