Based on list of authors and titles on verso of dust jacket, which lists Ernest Hemingway’s The Sun Also Rises but does not include Goethe’s Faust the book and dust jacket date from the Spring of 1930. Rare in jacket. The book itself is in good only condition for its age. Binding is tight and pages secure. Some soiling/fading and bumping to spine and board edges. A few pages have spots of soiling throughout. A dozen or so pages are missing small chips at lower edge. Offsetting to verso of half-title page. Pages 92 and 93 have darkened areas from newspaper clipping review of performance of The Importance of Being Ernest being laid between those pages. Newspaper clipping comes with book and remains laid between those pages. Small area of damp staining to lower exposed text block that creeps onto pages approximately 1/4” deep by 1” long. Please see pictures. The dust jacket is in fair only condition for its age with large chips missing at edges, soiling, wear, rubbing, sun darkening at spine, old tape on verso, etc. Please see pictures to judge condition for yourself.
