Description: Pair of Antique Paris Porcelain Floral & Gilt Decorated Vases – 14 inchesFor our swan song “pink & green” summer party, we wanted to use as many flowers as possible from our gardens. We began by using a lovely pair of Paris Porcelain Vases from the 19th century – each one set on an end of our 3-piece mirrored plateau. The term ‘Paris Porcelain’ is broadly defined as porcelain made by artists around Paris from the late 18th century to the 1870’s. It is written that this style of porcelain was loved by Marie Antoinette & utilized by only wealthiest of French aristocrats. My mother loved it because it often employs raised flowers, birds & other animals on unusually shaped vases. She found it whimsical & happy! This pair of vases features painted butterflies & variously colored summer flowers with raised pink iridescent flowers against a white porcelain background edged in gold. The backs of these vases are pure white. The edges & opening of each vase are cut in a leaf-like pattern & gilt trimmed. The overall effect is light, airy, lovely -- feminine & Paris sophistication. They are fourteen” tall by ten” at the opening by four” in depth. We love using them outdoors on a lovely summer evening & indoors as well. They are so pretty! · Object: Pair of antique Paris Porcelain vases.· Origin: France· Material: Porcelain· Period: 19th century· Measurements: fourteen inches tall by thirteen” wide by four” deep.
