Description: You are bidding on one smooth style collar and one thumbscrew for it for a Stanley Number 71 or 71-1/2 wood router plane as pictured. I am listing two similar collars, so for clarity I am calling this one reference letter "B". Included are the collar and the thumbscrew. Earlier 71 and 71-1/2 planes used the ribbed style, and more recent planes used this smooth style. All of the US made planes and some BUT NOT ALL of the English made planes used collar thumbscrews that had 1/4-28 threads. But SOME English made planes used thumbscrews that had smaller 10-32 threads. This collar has the more common and larger 1/4-28 threads. Condition is good, with some faint rust showing through the nickeling on the collar, and a bit more rust on the thumbscrew. The thumbscrew will not thread all the way out of the collar, which seems to be common for these. The Post Office now has several prices increases during each year, raising a few things but not everything at each increase. And they now raise their rates during the Holidays, which means early October to late January. Their big increases are in January, timed to start at the end of the Holiday rates, and this year is no exception. And it's not just the postage rates, the insurance charges and the delivery signature charges have also gone up. There is now a surcharge for Priority Mail packages over 20" long, and another for Priority Mail packages over 30" long, because those longer packages won't fit in their automatic machines. And the Post Office has discontinued the Regional Flat Rate boxes, which were often less expensive for certain sizes and weights. I try to pick the best shipping option for each listing, based both on what is the least expensive and on what I think is needed to protect the item. If the value is $250 or over, eBay requires your signature at delivery for the buyer and seller protections to be in effect.SALES TAX: Interstate sales tax is now the reality on all the major selling websites including eBay. If I ship to a state where eBay is required to collect sales tax, eBay will charge you the sales tax for your location.
