Description: Past Patterns PP#4971Early 1910s Panel Dress Sewing Pattern for 14 Year Old This Early 1910s Ladies Bloomer Dress pattern was originally published by The New Idea Pattern Company. ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ Originally the pattern was described as "Ladies' Slip-on Apron. Breast pocket and short sleeves. Slashed neck to form kerchief look. Tack belt." Additional notes from the original: To obtain the size of the pattern that will give a perfect-fitting garment, a CORRECT measurement MUST BE taken over the dress. Stand BEHIND the person being measured, and pass the tape over the FULLEST part of the bust, close up under the arms, and high up across the back, as here illustrated (referencing an image on the front cover). NEVER USE A SIZE THAT IS TOO SMALL. ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ This Ladies Bloomer Dress pattern was originally developed for the size and shape of a early 1910s, 14 year old girl with 30” bust, 24 1/2" waist and 35 ½” hips. We do this with the hope that people will start creating and wearing reproductions instead of antique originals. The clothes we wear and that our grandparents wore are part of our cultural history. Just as you would not abuse antiques furniture by cutting off decorative trim, so you should not abuse antique garments by wearing them. Our second goal is that you pick up a little bit of history when you sew the garment. The fit, the cut, the fasteners, the fabric design, just to mention a few things, are part to the technology of the time. Our third goal, in sewing the patterns, is to spark an interest in genealogy and local history. Researching local history is always a rewarding pursuit. SKU 4971 Thanks for looking!
