Signed "C.D. Russell".-Description: This is the original artwork for the 9-1-1935 Sunday comic strip Pete The Tramp by Clarence D. "C.D." Russell (1895-1963). The strip ran from 1932 through 1963. Pete was a gentle soul, down on his luck during The Great Depression (and thereafter), but not for lack of trying. In this Sunday, Pete compliments a shepherd (called a "sheepherder" here), trying to cajole a free meal. However, the shepherd bemoans the condition of his flock, his losses and his lack of sleep. Pete suggests counting sheep to try and fall asleep. A cute gag nicely rendered by Russell. RTS Condition: -The art is in excellent overall condition. Minor age/handling wear.
