Description: Pi Beta Phi Cook Book first published in 1957 by the Beta Phi Settlement School located in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. According to the Internet: The women's fraternity Pi Beta Phi opened the Pi Beta Phi Settlement School in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, in 1912 to provide education, economic opportunity, and health care to the rural area at the edge of the Great Smoky Mountains. The school also conducted arts and crafts classes in an effort to preserve and promote the region's crafts tradition. The Pi Beta Phi Settlement School began an extension called the Craft Work Shop in 1945 in cooperation with the University of Tennessee; it is now an independent nonprofit organization known as the Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts that provides college and graduate-level courses in arts and crafts. This is the fourth edition published in January of 1963. It is 128 pages full of recipes and great graphics. The recipes were from different Pi Beta Phi Alumnae. Per one graphic, you could rent a single room at the Hotel Miramar in Santa Monica, California for $8.00, suites started at $18.00! The Miramar is still open. King Suite is $944 a night plus $57.50 "resort fee" per night, plus 15.6% tax per night. So long to cheap thrills! The cookbook has been used and has the disclosed level of stains to show for it.
