Description: Polish noble saber Karabela 17th centuryThe replica presented above is a valued noble saber - karabela, which was widely used among representatives of the Polish upper social class. Its prototype were swords used by janissaries and spahis, i.e. Turkish infantry and cavalry units. It was used both for combat, but also as a decorated parade weapon. Producer: Armourers (KARABELA)Length: 99 cmBlade length: 80 cmHandguard length: 13.5 cmWeight: 2 kgReplicas of this melee weapon available in our store have a circularly curved blade, which is smooth on both sides. The noble saber is equipped with a karabel hilt, the head of which is stylized on the head of an eagle. The use of this element was motivated by the position of the hand when wielding the weapon - resting the thumb on the back of the shaft and the little finger on the pommel. This made it easier to make drag cuts in the case of cavalry units and curved cuts in foot units. The shaft of the replica sword itself is made of wood and provided with metal rivets, while the crossguard has arms with a characteristic pyramid shape and triangular mustache. The decorations used are reminiscent of the eastern style, and their center is a bird from which semicircles radiate. The set includes a wooden scabbard covered with brown leather and decorated with brass fittings. The saber is not sold with a stand - we invite you to purchase it on the subpage dedicated to displaying our replicas.
