Porcelaine De Sèvres Lithograph, Antique, Circa 1891, Elegantly Framed

This is an original, elegantly detailed & beautifully framed, color printed lithograph of a Sèvres Porcelain Vase, commemorating the signing of the peace treaty between Sweden and Russia. This is one of a selection of the finest examples of "Le Porcelaine Tendre de Sèvres" by artist Edouard Garnier, published in Paris circa 1891 by Maison Quantin, highlighted with gold by Gillot. The richness of the finest of Sèvres porcelain, with its exquisite luminosity, color and gilding is well portrayed in this high quality lithograph. An elegant, dimensional gold border frames the 6.5" x 8.5" print, surrounded with a rich, dark blue mat and multi-toned 14" x 16" wood ornate frame, under glass. The print is in excellent condition, with very minor evidence of aging on the mat frame and the paper-sealed back. Otherwise, the image area is clean. Some historical background of Sèvres: The Sèvres factory was established in 1738 at the Château de Vincennes, with local craftsmen from the nearby factory at Chantilly, to supply the wealthy and privileged of France under the patronage, and later the ownership, of King Louis the XVth. Sèvres porcelain was so loved by Louis the XVth, that when the company ran into financial difficulties, he bought out the shareholders and became sole proprietor from his palace at Versailles. Sèvres became known as the “Porcelain of French Royalty".
