Description: This Pre-WW1 1880s French Army M1874 Gras Rifle T-Back Sword Bayonet is in good, clean condition overall but shows signs of age and service. The blade's spine is well marked, indicating production took place at St. Etienne in 1879. A variety of small stamps, including a serial number and inspection proofs, are present on the blade as well as the crossguard. The blade is clean however expected evidence of age and handling are detectable. A clean edge and point both remain intact. The original wooden grips are in good condition and no serious damage can be detected though traces of wear from handling and storage are present. The press stud on the pommel is free and appears to function as you would expect however the steel spring displays mild pitting.
