Description: Grand elegant lady china manufactured by the J D Kestner porcelain factory in Germany in the early 1860’s. She is a portrait doll named after President Lincoln’s wife, Mary Todd as she was in younger years. She is 26” tall with a shoulder head 6” tall and 5.5 “ width. Has deeply molded facial features so an older Kestner doll. White space between lips is characteristic of Kestner. Has beautiful facial painting w/ little fade on edge of eyebrows and dimple under chin but no repairs, cracks, hairlines to the shoulder head. Her rare beauty is the snood on rear of head netted in gold and gold bows at her temple and a gold headband. Not showing wear on the snood. Wears antique cotton pantilets and slip on an 100% antique antique muslin body that has age marks and #8 imprinted on body of chest. Her stripped dark brown leggings show horse hair stuffing and attached to hand sewn brown leather high heeled boots with tiny gold buttons. Has hand stitched leather hands . Has antique cotton double slip and pantilets. Wears a heavy gold dress embellished with lots of antique lace and netting that is ruched on the bodice and fully lined. Full ruffled lace neckline with antique pearl gold jeweled broach. She is as she came to me and part of my personal collection. Photos are part of the description. Reflection is from camera flash.
