Description: Primitive Looking Handmade Clay Fish Dish 3-Sectional Dish/Display/Tray A clay fish dish up for sale - unmarked on the bottom. This is a primitive-looking piece, whimsical at the same time, with delightfully incised eyes, gills and scales, culminating in an upturned, incised tail, and an incised mouth. It looks as if there was some color added in the tail and scale region prior to firing, and as well, the piece was originally covered with a clear glaze, which is rubbing off now, completing it's charm. As for condition, it could be seen as "rough" but I think this is also part of the appeal of this piece. The first compartment - towards the head - may have been used as a patio ashtray; the bottom is ashy gray and the glaze is gone. The other two compartments remain glazed and cleaner. It would probably look awesome in your outdoor patio/living space; a utilitarian as well as whimsical conversation piece. Weighs one pound one ounce prior to wrapping and shipping.
