Description: Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE The best cashmere in the world came from Scotland, and Pringle is the best known name for that cashmere. I am a cashmere snob. The best cashmere comes from the hands of Scottish and Italian spinners and knitters, one of the cruel jokes of imperialism, like how curry ended up the national dish in England. Italy and UK occupied large parts of what is now China, India and Pakistan and bored soldiers discovered Kashmir goats. The Scots were already doing magic with Merino and Shetland wools, and the Italians had whipped wool from Mohair goats and angora from rabbits into beautiful yarn. So it didn’t take long for them to dip into Kashmiri wool and master it. Kashmir – the province and the material - have been fought over forever, and politics dictate a lot of its creation and use. During our cruel and stupid embargo on China, cashmere was exported raw to Italy and Scotland. When the Chinese stopped the exports, it went to Hong Kong and Madagascar, of all places. The quality suffered a little, but once China took manufacturing in house, cashmere quality became a cheap crapshoot - anyone’s game. The very high quality stuff – because its spun from the longest and finest strands of goat hair – still come to the west but at very high prices. I’m told Pringle now has all the garment pieces knit in China and assembles them in Scotland to protect the claim it’s made there. But a lot of junk cashmere comes out too, oily feeling or stuff that starts fuzzing before you wear it! People! Cashmere isn’t supposed to get fuzzy for a really long time! The Italian Cashmere Association has detailed instructions on how to care for it that include instructions on how to get the fuzz off. It’s not the intended outcome. Paste 40” around underarms and 38” around the waist, unstretched. 22” long from top of shoulder to hem. 14” from shoulder seam to the other across the back and sleeves are 25” long. I provide all this information so that you can get it and love it, so I hope you use it. Please ask any questions – that helps me write better listings. The sewing form measures 38-30-39, FYI. I am not a professional seller. I do this because I am weak and must have money for shopping. So please check your measurements and understand that I hope to avoid returns – tho I certainly will accept them, and, unless if I've really made a mistake in the factual portion of the description, I will ask you to share the shipping costs. I avoid future relations with people who send things back worn or because they didn’t read the description. Please keep in mind that eBay keeps up to 20 percent of each purchase for letting me – and you – use this wondrous platform. And that the post office doesn’t ship free for me or eBay; eBay promotes promising it because people think they’re getting a deal with ‘free shipping.’ I also shop here on eBay and try to behave like so many of the great sellers and buyers I've had the privilege and good luck to deal with.
