Description: Beautiful Raku Art Pottery Blessings Rattle made by renown potter and artist Barbara Hertel from Oregon. Blessings rattles are meant to bless and protect the person, the place or a special occasion. Hertel was from Oregon and was known to create beautiful "spiritual" Raku pottery. She had received many awards for her work. Her pieces are known to be very strong as she used repeated special laborious firing Raku techniques and special stoneware clays. She also used the Reiki style elemental techniques to bless the special pieces and some of her pieces have symbols painted on them representing air, fire, energy, love (the heart), etc. Hertel's pieces are "Raku" - a firing process that, as Hertel said, has a deep relationship to the basic elements of earth, air, water, and fire. Hertel found inspiration for her pieces with strong lines from architect Frank Lloyd Wright and sculptor Henry Moore. Approximate measurements: 4" x 3.5" x 2"
