Description: RARE Antique 1905 D & W Auchterlonie SPECIAL Golf Club Hickory Shaft • RH Marked as D & W AUCHTERLONIE SPECIAL ST. ANDREWS & NORTH BERWICK William "Willie" Auchterlonie (1872 – 1963) was a Scottish professional golfer and native of St. Andrews. He won the 1893 Open Championship at the age of 21 years and 25 days and he remains the second youngest Open Champion after Tom Morris. But that was his only Open victory. He had begun his working life as an apprentice to the club makers R. Forgan & Son. His older brother, David, was already a clubmaker and Willie joined him in the business. There is still a golf shop called Auchterlonie's in St Andrews. Looks like about a 3-iron or mid-iron. Excellent vintage condition with a little oxidation. • Club head markings as shown; no markings on the sole• Club head is steel; marked as WARRANTED HAND FORGED. Minor dings • Club head is marked with lots of information including a couple of unusual cleekmarks.• Hickory shaft • Original leather grip as shown with minor separations; excellent patina • LENGTH: About 39.5”• WEIGHT: About 15.8 oz. I realize that postage is expensive. Will refund 20% of UPS / FedEX after completion of the sale. Will combine postage with other golf clubs I have listed. TAKE A LOOK.
