There is the faintest of all faint pencil mark at the top of the plate. This was to more easily identify the plate # and is easily removable with an eraser. Description We are proud to be able to offer a fine original hand colored lithographed print by John James Audubon from his masterful work entitled The Quadrupeds Of North America which was published in New York , circa 1854. Quadrupeds was Audubon's final great natural history work. His animal drawings are still considered some of the finest prints published in America. The folio edition of this work marked the first time that America's animals were described and illustrated in one publication and the octavo publication continued that effort. Audubon and his son, John Woodhouse, drew all of the quadrupeds in the work.
