Description: ‘Have nothing in your houses that you do not consider to be beautiful or useful.’ William Morris Rare French Art Deco Appetizer Set by Bouillet Bourdelle – 1930’s An exceptional glass and silverplate ensemble, created by Bouillet & Bourdelle, who designed some of the most iconic art deco pieces in the 1930’s. Four trapezoid-shaped glass inserts are mounted around a rectangular one with a lid. All pieces fit perfectly into a silverplated tray, mounted on four triangular feet. What is exceptional is that the inserts have been etched on the bottom to match the cross-stripe design of the center one and compliment the large handles in a very Art Deco geometric pattern. The tray measures 12 1 /2 inches (32 cms) by 17 5/8 inches (45 cms) from one outside edge of the handle to the other. The trapezoid inserts measure 11 3/4 inches (30 cms) on the two longer sides and all stand 1 ½ inches high. The rectangular center insert is 5 ¾ inches (14.5 cms) by 5 inches (12.7 cms) and stands 2 ¼ inches high (5 cms) which allow the lid to fit snugly. The tray has minor signs of use but is still very shiny. The glass inserts are in very good condition and fit well. It weighs 6.2 lbs in all and with a hallmark and stamp on the tray.
