Description: This box is the US Cartridge Co.'s .44 Colt which dates to the early 1870's. It is one of the earliest examples of a civilian metallic cartridge box and shows the rare 12 notch Army Conversion on the label. The box is, of course empty, with the side wrappers sealed. However, you can cut the wrappers and open it for display if you'd prefer. All of the boxes I've recreated date from the 1860's - 1880's and are what collectors now, for obvious reasons, refer to as "picture boxes." These are not photocopies or printed from pictures I've Googled. These are high resolution, digital recreations. I have included a picture of an original for comparison. Buyer pays fixed shipping. Let me know if you have questions or need further pictures. Auction is for one box. ****UPDATE**** Due to the fluctuation in chipboard availability I'm being forced to limit my stock and make most cartridges boxes to order. Because of this, I'm having to extend my handling time to 5 days instead of 3. HOWEVER, most orders will continue to ship with in 1-3 days. But larger orders with multiple boxes may take 4-5 days. I will try to keep some of the better sellers on hand, but the availability of materials will ultimately determine what can be stocked. Thank you for your patience and don't hesitate to contact me if you need something quickly.
