Description: Roselle Hibiscus Tea Whole Leaf Calyx Hibiscus Sabdariffa AKA - Jamaican Sorrel Roselle is our FAVORITE plant on the farm!Growing it takes quite a bit of patience and garden space. Seeds are sown in early March and the harvest is in November. By Spring & early Summer the Roselle plant will form into a beautiful little bush. In late Summer the much anticipated flowers finally start to bloom. Flowers are usually a pale pink, but we have seen a white / pink tie die pattern as well. In Fall the Calyxes or 'fruit' of the Roselle Hibiscus will form. It is very enticing to harvest the fruit early, but waiting until they are large & plump will result in a better harvest. The Calyxes for the Roselle we grow will be so large you can only fit 2-3 in your palm at a time. Before the frost, it's time to harvest! The Calyx is separated from the seed pods, rinsed in water from the FL Aquifer, then either processed into jelly or dried for tea. Our farm sells the dried Roselle Hibiscus Calyx if you would like to try a wonderful tea or make really tangy cupcakes / pancakes! We grow our Roselle organically from our own seed stock on our farms in the Florida Panhandle. Most commercially sold Roselle tea is from Thailand or China and is very dark in color. Our Roselle Tea is grown, harvested, processed, packaged and shipped from our farm.
