Description: This is a vintage real photo postcard (RPPC), unposted and featuring a photo of a woman and reads "Evalena - Lum's Sweetheart - Pine Ridge, Arkansas". Evalena was a character on the Lum and Abner Radio Show which ran from 1931 to 1955 and set in the fictional town of Pine Ridge, Arkansas. In 1936, Dick Huddleston, owner of the Huddleston General Store persuaded the citizens of Waters Arkansas to change the name of the town to Pine Ridge, to capitalize on the popuarity of the show. Postcard is an advertisement for the Dick Huddleston General Store and Fishing Lodge in Pine Ridge, Arkansas. He sold Lum and Abner memorabilia in the 1940s to tourists who visited the community hoping to meet the real Lum and Abner town residents and buy souvenirs from the radio show. It is uncertain if the woman pictured is a local woman portraying Evalena or Mildred Funnel who portrayed the character on the radio show. Postcard published circa 1930-1950.
