Description: Begun when Ruskin was 24 years old, these works of criticism were written between 1843 and 1860 and argue the superiority of his contemporaries as painters of landscapes. This edition was published in New York by Merrill and Baker and includes all five volumes and is the 1873 edition. Ruskin re-wrote much of volume one. All have nice modern binding in browns and golds with matching endpapers. There are some plates in volumes three and four demonstrating the various points of criticism.
