Our Amish log beds are hand crafted of solid pine by the Amish in NW Montana and built with integrity in mind. There is often some checking or cracking in the logs which is a natural occurrence with lodge pole pine, but it does not affect the strength and durability of the bed. It actually adds character to them. The beds come dis-assembled and include easy assembly instructions, with all the hardware and slats included. Two side rails come with the beds and there is heavy angle iron bolted to the side of the lowest rail for very strong support. Mattress is not included. We choose to work with lodgepole pine as it grows naturally in the forests of NW montana and is known for its superior strength to weight ratio. It is also straighter, thus making it easier to work the raw wood into the highest quality furniture possible. Our lodge pole pine is harvested in the Kootenai National Forest via a very selective process. Skilled woodsmen select each tree with an attentive eye toward the quality, straightness and size of each specimen. After felling, each piece is hand carried to the road to ensure both the tree and the environment remain unharmed. Then each log is hand peeled, using the skip-peel method where some of the inner bark is left on the logs, creating a beautiful rustic piece of furniture for your home, lodge or cabin.
