The pen is battery powered and screams loudly when you press the red button. It us in new excellent condition. I've had this in my desk for almost 24 years since I received it back in 2000. The original ink has dried up so I'm including 2 replacement cartridges. The original dried up one is included as well. It's remarkable that the battery is still good after all these years. Works perfectly.
