Description: The Shipibos are one of the largest ethnic groups in the Peruvian Amazon. They are located along the Ucayali River in the Amazonian rainforest.They have maintained their tribal identity and still practice their shamanic traditions and beliefs. Kene involves paintings, embroidering or weaving designs, being a feminine art that is passed down from mother to daughter and that uses materials derived from the forest and the chacras.They are internationally famous, many people come from other countries to be cured or to learn from ther wisdom. Some symbols featured in the designs are the Cosmic Serpent, the Anaconda and various plant forms.Shipibos can listen to a song or chant by looking at the desings, and inversely paint a pattern by listening a song.
