Description: ♥ ♥Adorable, 8 1/2" tall, fully labeled, antique cloth, "Cuddle Kewpie", doll by Richard G. Krueger, Inc., New York, circa 1929. With his soft stuffed, chubby body with molded wings, shaped feet, mitt-type hands and peaked hat he makes a wonderful addition or start to your Kewpie collection. He has adorable, painted features with those big, side-glancing (googly) eyes with hi-lights, cute pug nose, tiny eyelashes and eyebrows, watermelon-shaped mouth and good cheek blush. He is one of famed artist, Rose O'Neill's, early cupid-like, illustrations in doll form as directed by her to be "soft to the touch that would melt in your arms". His full, sewn-in cloth label reads as follows: "KEWPIE"/Trade Mark Reg. U.S. Pat. Off./Pat. No.1,785,800 Copyright/Richard G. Krueger, Inc./New York/Sole Mfrs. & Distributors/ROSE O'NEILL/Made in U.S. A. He is in fair condition with no odors and from a smoke free home but shows overall age wear as shown with a few tiny holes and light stains from use. Originally purchased or given as gifts they were said to bring good luck and love and were often given as gifts to new babies (many of these dolls haven't survived all those years of love). FREE shipping in the 48 contiguous United States. Other antique Kewpie and Scootles dolls are not included and each is listed separately.
