Description: Studio Pottery 2qt Lidded Casserole Dish, Donna Roberts (1952-2006), Wild Rose Pottery, Montana, 1990s This auction is for a beautiful 2qt, lead free, lidded casserole studio pottery dish made in the 1990s by Donna Roberts of Wild Rose Pottery, Victor, Montana.The white clay body has a white natural clay, unglazed base and lid rim.Inside and out is a glossy pink and blue speckled glaze that appears more lavender-blue, visually.The lid has an applied handle and an exquisitely incised and applied wheat stalk and floral design along one side. Photos cannot do justice.Incised on the unglazed bottom is "Roberts" accented with an incised wheat stalk.Made in Victor, Montana during the 1990s, most possibly, per online research.Wheel turned with applied and incised pottery techniques.Round, bulbous, low-bowl shape with a well-fitting, gently domed lid and useful handle.Holds 2 quarts or 8 cups to the brim. Measures 4 1/2" high with the lid and 3" high without; is 8" in diameter at the widest with a 6 2/4" diameter opening and a 5" diameter base.Weighs 2 pound, 10 ounces before packaging.Very good condition with no chips, cracks, crazing or surface wear to note. Appears unused. Any fleabites, glaze misses, etc. would be from the handmade process and not damage of any kind.Donna Roberts (1952-2006) owned and operated Wild Rose Pottery with her husband, Stan, in Victor, Montana from 1980 and well into the 1990s. Their wheel-turned, lead-free pottery pieces, with hand-formed and hand-applied wheat and floral designs and beautiful glazes, were well known throughout the western United States.
