The aircraft can be viewed in the USA, UK, France, Czechoslovakia, USSR, Canada, Australia, Finland, Holland, Poland, Germany, Italy, Japan, Sweden and Spain. A detailed and informative synopsis of individual aircraft designs, spanning most participants in WWII. The photographs are well selected, and particularly as regards the more esoteric planes the attention to detail is both remarkable and welcome. As the title implies, each descriptions concludes with a listing of existent aircraft and their location. I discovered to my joy that an example of the North American F-82 (double P-51 Mustang) is located in my home town! One of my favorite aspects is the appendix in the back covering "extinct" aircraft. The majority are prototypes, but examples exist of aircraft manufactured into the hundreds that have not survived to the present day. One hopes that with the increasing interest in warbird archaeology and reconstruction, some versions of these plans will move off those pages. The book itself is an elegant compact hardcover that will grace my coffee table for years to come.
