In an attempt to revive his baseball career Thorpe attempted to learn switch-hitting while in Spring Training with the New York Giants in Marlin Springs, Texas. This is one of the best images of Thorpe that exists. While snapped in 1917, this image was printed off the original negative in 1958-1962. It is crystal clear with editing marks and masking on front edges and back side of photo.
