Description: THE BATTLE OF WATERLOO - by Victor Hugo with an Introduction by Drew Middleton, the Military Correspondent of The New York Times, and an Epilogue on The Waterloo Dispatch by Reginald Colby. The illustrations have been reproduced from engravings by Edouard Detaille. The typographic plan was prepared by Reynard Biemiller, who selected Linotype Janson, twelve-point with four points of leading for the text, and eighteen-point italics for the chapter headings. The page size is 8 1/8" x 10 5/8 inches, and there are 120 pages. The text was composed and printed at the Harbor Press in New York City, under the direction of Frank D'Arconte. The illustrations were printed at the Meriden Gravure Company in Meriden, Connecticut, under the direction of John Peckham. The paper is a special making of Mohawk Superfine, from the Mohawk Paper Mill in Cohoes, New York. The binding consists of an olive green cowhide spine, stamped in gold, with the sides covered in a French hand-made marbled paper. The endpapers are of Highland Green Curtis Tweedweave which also covers the slipcase.
