Glazier, late lieutenant, Harris Light Cavalry. printed in 1866, the year after the Civil War ended. Glazier recounts his years in the Union Army in which he was captured by the Confederates and shuffled as a prisoner of war between their different Southern camps, forts, rail lines, and makeshift prisons, recounting friends he met and lost, and the hardships, sickness, starvation, and torture they all faced, until he is able to succeed in escaping with a fellow prisoner, and, with the help of several civilians, including sympathetic whites and blacks, along the way, was able to reach a Union camp and safety. to warn you, his language and attitude towards blacks is...not politically correct, to put it nicely, despite being a union officer. several illustrations, a nicely detailed table of contents, and an appendix in back with a list of fellow soldiers that he knew to have been captured.
