Description: BACKGROUND OF "THE STAND": A gorgeous, well-preserved 1st EDITION 1st PRINTING (one of the very few ORIGINAL 1st printings that were made by Doubleday in 1978. The 1978 Edition (like this one) was originally much longer (like the 1990 Edition); in fact, it is technically a revised version that King was forced to cut 400+ pages out of. Our pal Stephen King was NOT pleased with the decision to make his "masterpiece" shorter. As previously stated, years later (1990), Doubleday decided to finally approve the release of the FULL, UNCUT & ORIGINAL book that Stephen King originally wrote in 1978. AThe book is a FIRST EDITION, FIRST PRINTING. It has the "T39" Gutter Code on page 823 (see pics). It's Dust Jacket is complete with the "$12.95" price tag on the front inside cover. The novel is in spectacular shape (considering it's 45 years old), aside from some "yellowing" on the page's sides. However, once the book is opened, the pages are a crisp white. The binding is great & I have barely touched the book since I came upon it. I purchased a slipcase from a nice guy in Europe that makes slipcases in his spare time. It ended up costing about $50 US currency, but I'll just throw it in as a gift to the buyer. Slipcase is in Near Mint condition. The book itself is in NEAR FINE, while the Dust Jacket would be FINE- (although, I guess this is relative). DUST JACKET CONDITION: VERY GOOD- BOOK CONDITION: VERY GOOD+ There are a few things wrong with the book itself. First, there is an inscription from a previous owner of the front endpaper. There is a "scuffed" area on the top-right corner of the front side, almost like someone dropped it. There is some extremely slight "yellowing" to the outside of the pages; every serious book collector knows that time will make your pages yellow without the proper precautions taken for YEARS. Aside from those 3 things, the book is in damn good shape! There is absolutely NO writing (aside from above), underlining, highlighting, folded/torn/ripped/missing pages, or ANY modifications from what I received when purchased. Nothing has happened to it in my possession except for adding a Brodart Mylar Protective Coating to the DJ. This is a MUST for any serious Stephen King collector. In all honesty, I hate having to sell my favorite King book (this is the best King book I own), I like it better than my flat-signed "Insomnia". But sometimes life gets in the way and you have to part with some of your favorite things for money, sadly. Long Days, pleasant nights :)
