Very good in fair dust jacket. Appears to have been prepared for a library -- with pocket to rear pastedown & "Seven Days" slip to rear end paper -- but no other library markings & no indication that it was ever in circulation. Previous owner's name stamp & other stamps to front pastedown & end paper. Pages heavily age-toned (due to use of cheap paper) but otherwise clean & unmarked. Binding tight & square. Covers have mild wear at corners with boards showing at bit at bottom corners; light rubbing & soiling along edges. Dust jacket front flap is nearly detached; chipping to spine ends & at corners; tears at spine corners & at ends of flap folds; wear along edges with several small tears, creases & a bit of loss to top rear edge. DJ comes protected by new, archival cover. An attractive, vintage copy of one of Hammett's most popular novels. The basis for "The Thin Man" movie series starring William Powell & Myrna Loy. Displays well. Ships well-packed in a box.
